about shannon

Hello, I'm Shannon!

I am the wife of my beloved husband of 16 years and the mother of two wild and unique boys. We live in lovely Tennessee with our massive Airedale and our fluffy Golden Doodle. We love the arts of all kinds, making music, reading, exploring, kayaking and homeschooling. Homemaking brings me so much joy and I am incredibly grateful for our life.

I grew up in Alaska and had the most magical childhood surrounded by glorious beauty. We moved to Cordova, a very rural Alaskan town on Prince William Sound, from Oklahoma City when I was 7 and we learned quickly that making our own fun was a necessity for our well-being. We discovered the joy of winter picnicking all bundled up in our snow gear, watching Child's Glacier calve into the silty Copper River, keeping our eyes peeled for bears swimming out our living room windows in the same glacier-fed Eyak Lake we swam in and ice skated on, hiking and skiing downhill on the gorgeous mountains surrounding our little town, deep sea fishing and fresh water fishing, studying sea life on the breakwater of our harbor and exploring the mud flats when tides were low, flying in turbulent bush planes and picking plump berries in the middle of the forest.

It was in this remarkable place that I first experienced the delight of encountering art that stopped me in my tracks, met artists in real life, had my first oil painting lessons and began to understand how lifegiving painting is to my soul. When my dad died suddenly when I was in my mid-twenties, I realized how powerful creating art was for me in my grieving and it became a lifeline to me.

For me, art is not just something pretty to look at, art points us to our Creator, speaks to the soul what words cannot say and brings hope to even the darkest days. My prayer for my collectors and enthusiasts is that you sense the love and care of our Heavenly Father as you look at my paintings.
